2026 Reading Plan Reflections - Day 57

Come Away and Rest...

“Come by yourselves to a secluded place and rest for a while.” Mark 6:31 CEB
Before the crowds, before the teaching, before the feeding and the storm... There was an invitation.

The apostles had been sent out. They returned with stories, exhaustion, and probably adrenaline still pumping. Jesus doesn’t first debrief strategy. He doesn’t expand the platform. He says, Come away. Rest was woven into creation at the beginning. It was never an afterthought. It is not weakness. It is obedience.

What’s striking in this passage is that the quiet retreat doesn’t fully materialize. The crowds follow. Needs press in. Ministry continues. Yet even in the swirl of activity, those who came to Jesus found what they were truly seeking: nourishment, healing, safety in the storm.

Sometimes rest is not the absence of responsibility. Sometimes rest is simply the presence of Christ. He knows our limits. He orders our steps. And when we remain near Him, even the chaos cannot steal what He provides.

Faith In Action

Schedule intentional time this week — even 15 minutes — to sit quietly with Jesus. No agenda. No productivity. Just presence.
Lord, teach me to receive Your invitation to rest.
Anchor my soul in Your presence, even when life is loud.
