God's Purposes Keep Moving
Acts 25:1–27

Two years have passed since Paul was imprisoned. Felix is gone. Festus has arrived. The Jewish leaders immediately renew their accusations, hoping a new governor will finally give them the outcome they have wanted all along.
How often do people place their hopes in a change of leadership? A new king. A new governor. A new president. Surely this person will fix what the last one could not. Yet, Luke quietly reminds us that human leadership is never the foundation of God's kingdom.
Governors change. Political priorities shift. Justice is delayed. Even well-intentioned leaders compromise under pressure. But none of that prevents God from accomplishing what God has already determined to do. Paul understands this—he's had two years to consider it.
Jesus had already promised that Paul would bear witness in Rome (Acts 23:11). That promise wasn't threatened by Festus's indecision or by the hostility of Paul's accusers. God's purpose was still moving forward, even when it appeared nothing had changed for two long years.
Paul's appeal to Caesar wasn't an act of self-reliance. It was an act of faithful stewardship. Grace had already gone before him. Christ had already made the promise. Now Paul responded by using the wisdom, courage, and opportunities God had provided. That is often how grace works.
Sometimes God calls us to wait patiently because only God can act. Other times, grace invites us to participate—to take the next faithful step, trusting that God's power is already at work before us. We never advance God's kingdom by our own strength, but neither are we passive observers. God's grace both initiates and enables our response.
The same Lord who fulfilled His purpose through Paul is still faithfully at work today. Delays do not cancel God's promises. Changing circumstances do not derail God's mission. And when we walk in obedient faith, we discover that God's grace has already prepared the path before us.

Faith In Action
Consider an area of your life where you've been waiting on God. Ask whether God is calling you to continue waiting faithfully—or whether grace has already opened the next step of obedience before you.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your purposes never depend on changing circumstances or human leaders. Teach me to trust Your promises when progress feels slow. Fill me with the wisdom to recognize the next faithful step and the courage to take it, not in my own strength, but through the grace You so generously provide. Keep my eyes fixed on Your kingdom and make me a willing participant in the work You are already doing. Amen.
